Contemporary Interior Design - Miramar Beach, Florida
Many people assume that modern design is the same as a contemporary design; however, this is not entirely accurate. Although there is some overlap, the two styles of interior design have distinct differences.
Modern Design reflects the modern art movement of the mid-1990s. It is decidedly simple with clean lines and almost no detailing. It uses neutral materials and earthy colors. Most modern interior designs use off-white rooms with pattern-less fabrics in natural tones. Wood, leather, and stone are elements of modern interior design.
Contemporary Design refers to styles popular here and now. It is continuously evolving and reflects the trends that are prominent today. However, contemporary design today will be different from contemporary design 10 years from now. For now, contemporary design includes curved lines, a minimalist style, and monochromatic colors combined with a splash of bold color. Because contemporary design reflects the fashion and passions of the moment, the style may be a bit eclectic.
There are many similarities between modern and contemporary interior design. Both styles prefer simple architectural-lines and tend towards open-spaces. Both styles are minimalist and avoid ornate or bulky structures. Both styles use a simple color palette: earth tones for modern design and black, white & gray for contemporary interior design.
